Rod Mosher was head wrestling coach from 1967-1980. Rod's teams nearly always finished high in the Minnesota Community College Conference (MCCC). His teams finished either first or second in the Northern Conference several times.

In 1974, Rod received Conference Coach of the Year honors as his team won the conference, finished second in the state tournament and placed 18 th in the nation out of 110 competing schools. The 1974 wrestling season marked the third consecutive conference title for Coach Mosher.

Mosher guided many individual wrestlers to national tournaments during his tenure at UMC. His 15-year stint as wrestling coach at UMC produced over 100 team wins at a winning percentage of over 60 percent.
