Wednesday Morning Doubleheader On Deck For Golden Eagle Softball as they Head 90 Miles East to Take on Bemidji State

Bemidji, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston softball will look to continue their winning ways on Wednesday morning for a doubleheader with Bemidji State. The doubleheader, originally scheduled for 2 / 4 P.M. on Wednesday, has now been moved up a few hours and will start at 10 A.M., with game two to follow.
 
Minnesota Crookston is coming off their biggest win of the season, a 2-1 triumph over Winona State, earning the split on the day. The Golden Eagles handed Winona State their second loss of the NSIC season and eighth overall.

Minnesota Crookston (14-25, 2-10 NSIC)
Offensively, the Golden Eagles have struggled in conference play, hitting just .179 as a team through 13 games. Overall, the maroon and gold are hitting .240 as a team. The Golden Eagles have been led all year by Hannah Trzinski (Fr., P/1B, Stevens Point, Wis.), who is hitting .344 with 17 runs batted in. Rayna French (So., C/OF, La Salle, Manitoba), who led the offensive charge with two hits in the win over WSU, is hitting .288 on the year. Freshmen Chayse Doering (Fr., OF, Shakopee, Minn.) and Madisen Yandle (Fr., SS, Lakeville, Minn.) are hitting .280 and .267, respectively. Doering and Yandle also have 16 stolen bases on the year and are a combined 16-19 in that category. Whitnee Curry (Sr., IF, Lincoln, Neb.) leads the Golden Eagles in both walks and sacrifice bunts.
 
Delaney Penner (Fr., P, Winkler, Manitoba) has led the Golden Eagle pitching staff. The freshman has been nothing short of fabulous in the circle. Penner is 5-4 with a 2.63 ERA in 10 starts, all of which have been after the calendar flipped to March. Penner leads the Golden Eagles in strikeouts, wins, starts, innings pitched and batting average against. Sydney McMurdie (Fr., P/UT, Twin Falls, Idaho) and Charlotte Dombrowski (Jr., P/OF, Valparaiso, Ind.) have combined for 14 starts and have ERA's below five. Alexa Guilford (Jr., P, Crystal City, Manitoba) has been fantastic out of the bullpen. The southpaw has made 16 appearances and has three saves and a 2.02 ERA.
 
Bemidji State (15-23, 2-12 NSIC)
The Golden Eagle Softball team is hitting the road to take on Bemidji State in a doubleheader this Wednesday. Bemidji State has historically had the upper hand with a 39-11 record against the Golden Eagles. However, the Golden Eagles will look to carry momentum from their last matchup, which ended in a Golden Eagle win.

At the plate, theBeavers are led by Aimee Christenson and Mariah Stevenson, both hitting above .300 on the season. Christenson leads the team with a .365 batting average, collecting 35 hits in 96 at-bats. She's coming off a standout performance against St. Cloud State, going 3-for-4 at the plate with a run scored and 4 RBIs. Stevenson is another key contributor, batting .323 and leading the team with 22 RBIs.

In the circle, the Beavers have leaned on freshman Kennedy Joachim, who has thrown a team-high 111.2 innings and recorded 9 wins with a 2.70 ERA. Payton Prissel has also seen significant time, tossing 51.2 innings this season.
