Grand Forks, N.D. – Records, records and more records. That's been the theme of the youthful Golden Eagle softball program this season. Most wins in program history, most conference wins in program history, the longest winning streak in the NSIC in program history and the most 'home' wins in program history. Oh yeah, Irelyn Spencer (R-So., IF, Rapid City, S.D.) also tied the conference record for most RBI in a single game with 10. It's been a special season, but the Golden Eagles hope that special season lasts longer than this weekend, as they head into the final weekend with a chance to set maybe the most important watermark in program history; making the NSIC tournament.

First, they will have a tune-up to those massive doubleheaders this weekend, as they will head 20 minutes west down Highway-2 for a non-conference game with a Division I foe, the University of North Dakota.

Minnesota Crookston (20-29, 8-14 NSIC)
The Golden Eagles have had the most successful season they have ever had and they hope their season extends into next week. This Wednesday, the Golden Eagles will play North Dakota for the second straight year, although this season they will play the Fighting Hawks in a pair of games.

The Golden Eagle offense has been stellar as of late, scoring 34 runs in their last six games, a stretch where they are 5-1. Whitnee Curry (Sr., IF, Lincoln, Neb.), the school's all-time hits leader, is hitting .293 with 13 runs knocked in and 11 runs. Madisen Yandle (Fr., SS, Lakeville, Minn.) has started in all but two games on the year and leads her team in hits and runs scored. Rayna French (So., C, La Salle, Manitoba) has 37 hits on the season and has drawn 22 walks and been hit by pitch seven times. Helped by her 10 RBI in the game one win over UMary, Irelyn Spencer (R-So., IF, Rapid City, S.D.) tied the NSIC all-time conference record and leads her team with 26 RBI.

The Golden Eagle pitching staff has been especially stellar, basically all year long. Delaney Penner (Fr., P, Winkler, Manitoba) and Alexa Guilford (Fr., P, Crystal City, Manitoba) have led the way, combining for 21 starts and over 120 innings pitched. Penner leads the staff with 48 strikeouts and has six wins, which also leads the staff. Evie Stuck (Sr., P, Papillion, Neb.) was a perfect 3-0 this past weekend against the Marauders and Beavers.

North Dakota (24-22)
UND is 5-3 this season in their shiny new Albrecht Field Complex and have some really nice wins this season, including a pair over Arizona State and Rutgers.

UND has a team batting average of .263 and are led by Callie Honig, Katie Joten and Katelyn Neaumauer, who are each hitting over .300. Camryn Lasota has had a power surge this season, with seven home runs, but hasn't hit one since mid-March.

The Fighting Hawks pitching is pretty comparable to the Golden Eagles. Their team ERA is 4.08 and Makaela Carr is 8-6 this season in a whopping 27 appearances. Jackie Albrecht has made 13 starts and is 3-12 on the year.
