Smithville, Mo. – Minnesota Crookston women's golf set a pair of new school records following day one at the NSIC Championships. First, they shot a new record low at the Championships, 326, breaking their previous record by a number of strokes. They are also in sixth place following day one, the best in program history.
Minnesota Crookston has three in the top-20;
Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.),
Anaka Lysne (Jr., Wahpteton, N.D.) and
Ainsley McLain (So., Grafton, N.D.). Hanson shot a 78 on the day, finishing with a pair of birdies and is in seventh. Lysne and McLain are each in a tie for 16
th.
Minnesota State and Sioux Falls are atop the leaderboard, as the Mavericks lead the Cougars by 11 strokes. USF leads Augustana by three strokes.
Individually, Maggie Veenendall of Sioux Falls leads the tournament by one stroke, ahead of Emerson Garlie of Minnesota State.
Lauren Bowyer (Jr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) and
Libby Dulmage (So., Leeds, N.D.) are in 44
th and 48
th, respectively.
Minnesota Crookston will look to continue their hot start and get into the top-five tomorrow, as they sit one stroke behind Concordia-St. Paul for fifth.
