CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team finished fourth of six teams in the USA College Clay Target League Class 1A-Conference 7 standings. Minnesota Crookston posted their two highest team totals in the final two weeks of the season with marks of 1,149.00 points and 1,186 points to finish with 5,163 points overall. Lindenwood University won the conference with 8,863.5 points, followed by Alfred State College, and Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. The Golden Eagles upended Western Technical College, and Lake Area Technical College in the standings.
The Golden Eagles were led in week five by Lucas Wavra (So., East Grand Forks, Minn.), who hit 25-straight in his scoring for a total score of 48-of-50 targets. Kallen Littler (So., Bemidji, Minn.) hit 25 straight in practice for a total score of 48-of-50, while Jayden Bergerson (Sr., Gully, Minn.) completed 50 straight (half practice and half in scoring) for a total score for the week of 48, and an overall score of 73-of-75.
The Golden Eagles were led in week five by Bergerson and Wavra, who each went 48-of-50 for the week. Braxton Qual (Jr., Mahnomen, Minn.) connected on 47-of-50 in week five. Kelsey Harms (Sr., Norwood Young America, Minn.), Littler, Dessa Terning, Kara Wold (Jr., Belgrade, Minn.), and Heidi Zimmerman (Fr., Motley, Minn.) all hit 46-of-50 clay pigeons.
Ethan Benedict (Sr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Hunter Pierson (Sr., Saint Hilaire, Minn.), and C.J. Walsh (So.) all went 45-of-50 for the week. Sydney Huwe (Sr., Carver, Minn.) and Louis Siegel (Jr., Anoka, Minn.) hit 44-of-50 targets. Eli Devore (So., Park Rapids, Minn.) and Rebecca Morstad (So., Cavalier, N.D.) connected on 43-of-50 targets. Codey Wolff (Sr., Wadena, Minn.) went 42-of-50 for week five. Austin Hughes (So., New York Mills, Minn.) and Amelia Miller (Fr., Hastings, Minn.) went 41-of-50 for the week.
For the fall season, Minnesota Crookston was led by Bergerson with an average of 47.6 for the season. Dessa Terning (Fr., Dassel, Minn.) led all female shooters for the Golden Eagles with an average of 46.4 targets. Morstad finished with a 45.4 average for the fall. Littler notched a 44.8 average, while Chase Nelson (Jr., Red Lake Falls, Minn.) notched a 44.6 average for the fall, as did Wolff. C.J. Walsh finished with a 44.4 average.
The Golden Eagles will compete in the 2025 USA College Clay Target League National Championship October 31-November 2 at Brittany Shooting Park in Bunker Hill, Ill.
