Larchwood, Iowa – For the first time in program history, a Golden Eagle women's golfer won a tournament that was larger than five teams.
Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) made history after shooting a 72 on day one and a 76 on day two, essentially leading the entire way on Tuesday. Hanson won the tournament by three strokes over Abbigail Broderson on Wayne State College.
As a team, the Golden Eagles finished in fifth with a two round score of 648, including a 328 during the final round.
Hanson was outstanding all day long, as is evident with her winning the tournament. The senior parred 10 holes and birdied one hole on the day.
Anaka Lysne (Jr., Wahpeton, N.D.) also finished in the top-10 for the fourth time in five fall tournaments, shooting an 81 on the day.
Ainsley McLain (So., Grafton, N.D.) ended the tournament in 33
rd, after shooting 166.
Lauren Bowyer (Jr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) improved upon her day one to finish in 45
th.
Wayne State College won the Invitational, while Winona State and Augustana rounded out the top three. Sioux Falls finished in fourth, while the Golden Eagles finished in fifth, four strokes ahead of Concordia-St. Paul.
Minnesota Crookston wraps-up the fall season having one of the best in program history and will continue their season in the spring.
