Blue Springs, Mo. --  For the first time ever, Minnesota Crookston women's golf leads the NSIC Championships after a round. Anaka Lysne (Sr., Wahpeton, N.D.) is the first ever Golden Eagle to lead the pack after a round, as well.

Minnesota Crookston is leading the pack thanks to a school record low 307. The new low shatters the previous record by three strokes, which was set earlier this season.

The Golden Eagles lead Minnesota State and Sioux Falls by a stroke, as both the Mavericks and Cougars shot 308 on the day.

Individually, Lysne was nothing short of fantastic. The senior tied a career low, carding a 70 during the first round and sits in first, four strokes ahead of Tanna Phares of Sioux Falls, Gaia Stancikova of Wayne State College and Bryn Huber of Sioux Falls.

Lysne was helped by five birdies on the day, including four straight on holes 12 through 15.

Playing in her first ever NSIC Championships, Emma Pierson (Fr., Cherry Valley, Ill.) was also outstanding, sitting in a tie for sixth, carding a 76 on the day with the help of three birdies.

Lauren Bowyer (Sr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) sits in a tie for 12th, shooting a day one 78 with a pair of birdies.

Ainsley McLain (Jr., Grafton, N.D.) and Libby Dulmage (Jr., Leeds, N.D.) are in a tie for 35th and 37th, respectively.

Minnesota Crookston will commence the second round tomorrow with teams staring up at them on the leaderboard for the first time ever.
