Minnesota Crookston Men's Golf Set for Warrior Invitational in Nevada

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston men's golf team will open their 2023 spring season at the Warrior Invitational at The Legacy in Henderson, Nev. UMN Crookston will compete Thursday, March 9-Saturday, March 11.

Minnesota Crookston is looking to build off their best fall season in recent history. The Golden Eagles shot four rounds under 300, including their third-best round (293) since 2009 at the BSU Invite. UMN Crookston had Devin Kucy (So., Camrose, Alberta) tie Jake Sanders (2011) for the lowest round (67) since 2009. The Golden Eagles earned the 2022 Mark Laesch Award, given to teams on improvement in adjusted stroke average per round.

Kucy leads UMN Crookston with an average of 75.3. His low round of 67 was the best for Minnesota Crookston in the fall. Layton Bartley (So., Fargo, N.D.) comes in notching an average of 76.3. His low round in the fall was 72. Keegan Poppenberg (Sr., Esko, Minn.) is tallying a 76.8. He had a low round of 69 at the BSU Invite. The Golden Eagles placed second at the BSU Invite. Rory Wutzke (So., Camrose, Alberta) is averaging 77.5. He had a low round of 72 in the fall. Ethan Howes (Fr., Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta) is averaging 79.5. Cade Pederson (R-Sr., West Fargo, N.D.) is tallying an 80.3. Carson Shultis (Fr., Fargo, N.D.) is notching an 80.4. Matt Moroz (Sr., Edmonton, Alberta) is tallying an 86.8, while Julian Nieto (Fr., Bucaramanga, Colombia) did not compete in any tournaments in the fall.
