Smithville, Mo. -- Over the course of the last three rounds at the NSIC Championships, junior Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) has carded rounds of 68, 69 and now a 70 during the first round of the 2026 NSIC Championships, sitting in a tie for second place with Winona State's Max Jericho.
Sean Leutner of Concordia-St. Paul is in first place after shooting a first round 68.
As a team, the Golden Eagles were outstanding, carding a 296 as a team, just two strokes behind both Bemidji State and Winona State for second. CSP is eight strokes ahead of the field with a first round 286.
Bofarull Balleste finished the day in a tie for second after carding a 70, with the help of four birdies on the day.
Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) was outstanding as well, finishing the first round with a tie for 12th, after carding a 74, using three birdies on the day. Andrew Wilhelm was in the top-10 for a bit of Friday and sits in 17th after shooting three over par on the day.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) and Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) shot 77 and 79, respectively.
Round two for the Golden Eagles will commence tomorrow morning.
