Lake City, Minn. – After an outstanding day yesterday at The Jewel, Minnesota Crookston women's golf shot 34 over par to finish up the tournament and finish in sixth place out of 12 teams. The Golden Eagles finished round two exactly where they finished round one.
Arkansas-Fort Smith won the tournament by two strokes over Minnesota State, who led the tournament by three strokes following day one. Winona State and Concordia-St. Paul finished in third and fourth place, while Wayne State College ended in fifth place, seven strokes above the Golden Eagles.
Emerson Garlie of Minnesota State won the tournament, while Addi Wood of Concordia-St. Paul finished even par and in second place.
Anaka Lysne (Sr., Wahpeton, N.D.), who finished the first round in a tie for fourth, finished the tournament in seventh after shooting a 77 on the day.
Emma Pierson (Fr., Cherry Valley, Ill.) sat in a tie for 27
th yesterday but shot a 74 on the day to move up 12 spots and finish in 15
th. Pierson's 74 is a new career low.
After a career low score yesterday,
Lauren Bowyer (Sr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) shot 85 on the day to finish in 35
th, tied with teammate
Ainsley McLain (Jr., Grafton, N.D.) carded an 82 on the day, including one birdie.
Lilly Mahlberg (Jr., Worthington, Minn.) and
Libby Dulmage (Jr., Leeds, N.D.) finished 59
th and 61
st, respectively.
It's another top 10 finish for the maroon and gold, who now have three straight to start the fall season and will look for a fourth at the Southwest Minnesota State Invite Saturday and Sunday in Marshall.
