LAKE CITY, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston men's golf team finished fourth of 11 teams at The Jewel Invitational at The Jewel Golf Course in Lake City, Minn. Minnesota Crookston posted their highest finish of the 2025-26 season. The Golden Eagles shot rounds of 282 and 285, the two lowest rounds the program has shot since the 2009 season.
Minnesota Crookston was paced by Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) shot six-under-par for the tournament. He carded a 67 in the opening round, and a 71 in the second round. Bofarull Balleste placed fifth to lead the Golden Eagles. Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) shot a second round 69 to finish in 12th place. Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta), and Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) tied for 23rd. Czirjak shot a 71 Tuesday, while Walsh posted a 74.
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) carded a 74 Tuesday and finished 39th. Gabe Weller (So., Alexandria, Minn.) shot a 73, while Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown, Minn.) posted a 78.
Winona State University won the tournament. The Golden Eagles defeated NSIC foes Sioux Falls, Concordia-St. Paul, Augustana, Minot State, UMary, and Jamestown, along with former NSIC members Upper Iowa. Peyton Coahran of Winona State was the individual champion with a combined score of nine-under-par. Bofarull Balleste was just three strokes behind Coahran.
Minnesota Crookston men's golf heads to the Newman University Invite in Newton, Kan. September 29 and 30.
