Hays, Kan. – Minnesota Crookston shot the sixth lowest score in the third and final round at the FHSU Tiger Classic, pushing the Golden Eagles to a top-10 finish, placing in eighth.
Through three rounds, the Golden Eagles shot 297 in round one, 295 in round two and a 292 in round three. Overall, the Golden Eagles shot better than their average stroke score of 299.
The Golden Eagles placed higher than Bemidji State, Concordia-St. Paul and Sioux Falls, the other NSIC teams at the classic.
The No. 5 team in the nation, Central Oklahoma took home the team title, besting Newman, the second place team, by 16 strokes. Colorado State-Pueblo finished in third.
Lukas Justesen (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) was nothing short of fantastic throughout the entire round, placing sixth, one of his better finishes in his Golden Eagle career. Justesen shot a 70 during the final round, one stroke shy of his career low.
Andrew Wilhelm (So., Fargo, N.D.) finished in 26
th, after shooting a 75 in round three.
Layton Bartley (Sr., Fargo, N.D.) carded a 71 during the final 18 holes, catapulting the senior into the top-60.
Jordan Wilson of Central Oklahoma took home the individual trophy by eight strokes. Colt Tenpenny of Colorado School of Mines finished in second place.
Minnesota Crookston will head back to Kansas next weekend, as they compete in the Firekeeper Open, hosted by Washburn University, before competing in the NSIC Championship.
