LITCHFIELD PARK, Ariz. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's golf team placed eighth out of 12 teams at the SMSU Challenge at the Wigwam Resort Blue Course in Litchfield Park, Ariz. The Golden Eagles improved their score from Thursday by 30 strokes Friday. They shot an overall score of 328 Friday. The 328 fell just outside of their Top 10 scores in program history.
Anaka Lysne (Jr., Wahpeton, N.D.) paced the Golden Eagles with her second top five finish, and fifth top 10 finish of 2024-25, after shooting a 78 Friday. Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) improved her stranding dramatically Friday, shooting a 79 to finish 30th. Lilly Mahlberg (So., Worthington, Minn.) posted a 90 Friday.
Libby Dulmage (So., Leeds, N.D.) improved her standing from Thursday, shooting an 83 for her lowest round of the season. Ainsley McLain (So., Grafton, N.D.) shot an 88. Lauren Bowyer (Jr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) carded a 97, while Victoria Olson (Fr., Cook, Minn.) scored a 104.
Saint Martin's University won the tournament by three strokes over Rockhurst University. The Golden Eagles defeated NSIC schools Bemidji State University, University of Mary, and Minnesota State University Moorhead, along with Chadron State. Gia Vargas of Montana State-Billings was the individual medalist with rounds of 76, and 73.
The Golden Eagles compete Monday, March 17 and Tuesday, March 18 at the SMSU Classic in Litchfield Park, Ariz.
