Bemidji, Minn. – What a day it was for Minnesota Crookston women's golf at the Tracy Lane Memorial. When the day started, the Golden Eagles sat in fourth place in the ten team field. When the round ended, the Golden Eagles had the highest finish in a field of that size in program history at second place.
The Golden Eagles shot a 336 on the day and were able to jump the Golden Bears of Concordia-St. Paul and Minot State.
Thanks to an outstanding eagle shot on her third to last hole,
Anaka Lysne (Jr., Wahpeton, N.D.) finished the day in second place after shooting a second day 78.. Her second place finish is the best by a Golden Eagle in a ten or more team field in program history.
In their first tournament of the year, the Golden Eagles saw two other golfers finish in the top-10.
Ainsley McLain (So., Grafton, N.D.) shot 168 through 36 holes for a tie for sixth, while
Clara Hanson (Sr., Grand Forks, N.D.) was outstanding on Tuesday, shooting an 82 for a 10
th place finish.
Lauren Bowyer (Jr., Ivanhoe, Minn.) and
Libby Dulmage (So., Leeds, N.D.) also had a top-30 finish.
Victoria Olson (Fr., Cook, Minn.) and
Lilly Mahlberg (So., Worthington, Minn.) finished in a tie for 35
th and 39
th, respectively.
Denali Johnson (Sr., Grand Rapids, Minn.) shot 218 in the two rounds.
Lysne was outstanding on the day, finishing with three birdies and that eagle that turned out to be the difference.
The Golden Eagles will be back in action next Monday and Tuesday as they head to Hudson, Wis., for the Maverick/Golden Bear Fall Brawl hosted by Minnesota State and Concordia-St. Paul.
