Mayetta, Kan. -- Through 36 holes at the Women's Firekeeper Open hosted by Washburn University, Minnesota Crookston women's golf is in a tie with Northwest Missouri State for seventh place out of 13 teams.
The Golden Eagles shot 639 as a team on Monday, 320 in the first round and 319 in the second round.
Host school Washburn leads the pack with a 607 on Monday, while Central Oklahoma and Nebrask Kearney are tied for second. Three NSIC schools, Wayne State College, Augustana and Concordia-St. Paul rank four through six after the first day.
Pella Broms of Nebraska Kearney and Addi Wood of Concordia-St. Paul are tied for first.
After back-to-back top six finishes to open the spring season, Anaka Lysne (Sr., Wahpeton, N.D.) continues to shoot well, sitting in a tie for 10th, nine over after 36 holes.
Freshman Emma Pierson (Fr., Cherry Valley, Ill.) sits in 24th, shooting 15 over, while Lauren Bowyer moved up 13 spots after the first round and sits in 30th after shooting five over in the second round.
The Golden Eagles combined for eight birdies on the afternoon.
Round three will commence tomorrow morning.
