Minnesota Crookston Trap Wins First-Ever Conference Championship after Successful Spring Season

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team finished their most successful campaign of their five years as a program as they claimed their first-ever Conference Championship. The Golden Eagles won the USA College Clay Target League 1A-Conference 6 title. Minnesota Crookston finished with a five-week score of 3,704.50. They edged Williston State College with 3,199.0. The Golden Eagles also defeated Bethany Lutheran College, Saint John's University, Mount Aloysius College, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

"We had a very successful season and congratulations to the whole team!," said Head Coach Anne Prudhomme. "They all pushed themselves inside and outside the classroom and accomplished their goals. All successes were well earned."

The Conference Championship caps off the most successful season in program history, as they took second place during the fall season in their conference, and were the runner up at the USA College Clay Target League National Championship in the fall.

Heather Kaup (So., Forest Lake, Minn.), Lily Krona (Jr., Bemidji, Minn.), Gracie Lunsetter (Jr., Gatzke, Minn.), Collin Schlomann (Jr., Lake Lillian, Minn.), and Louis Siegel (Fr.) each connected on 25-straight during week five. Krona finished tied for third among all females in the USA College Clay Target League with an average of 23.90. Kaup was fifth among females with a tally of 23.80.

Jayden Bergerson (So., Gully, Minn.) finished sixth among males in their conference with an average of 23.80. Hunter Kasprowicz (Jr., Radium, Minn.) notched a seventh-place finish with a tally of 23.60. Krona was the female conference champion, while Kaup finished second. Lunsetter was fifth with an average of 22.9. Ellen Payne (Jr., St. Louis Park, Minn.) notched a sixth-place finish with an average of 22.80. Kelsey Harms (So., Norwood Young America, Minn.) finished tied for seventh with a 22.10 average. Allison Jepson (Fr., Frazee, Minn.) finished tied for 10th with a tally of 21.20.

In week five, the Golden Eagles were led by Krona and Siegel, who connected on 49-of-50 targets. Kaup and Lunsetter hit 48-of-50 targets. Kasprowicz and Payne each went 47-of-50 in week five. Chase Nelson (Fr., Oklee, Minn.) hit 46-of-50 targets. Ethan Benedict (So., Maple Grove, Minn.), Harms, Schlomann, and Codey Wolff (Fr., Wadena, Minn.) went 45-of-50. Bergerson, Zach Olson (Sr., Parkers Prairie, Minn.), and Hunter Pierson (Fr., Saint Hilaire, Minn.) hit 44-of-50 targets. Jepson and Braxton Qual (Fr., Mahnomen, Minn.) went 41-of-50.
