Topeka, Kan. – Minnesota Crookston Men's Golf finished the Washburn Invitational in eighth place out of 15 teams. Minnesota Crookston was in sixth after the first two rounds on Monday afternoon.
The Golden Eagles had rounds of 290, 295 and closed out the Invitational by shooting a 302 on Tuesday afternoon.
Missouri Western shot 853 through three rounds to win the Invite, while Central Oklahoma, one of the best teams in the region, finished in second. Concordia-St. Paul finished in third.
The Golden Eagles finished two strokes behind Missouri Southern in seventh. The Lions moved up three spots on the day. Minnesota Crookston finished one stroke ahead of Minnesota State and Arkansas-Fort Smith and two strokes ahead of Central Missouri and Pittsburg State.
Andrew Wilhelm (So., Fargo, N.D.) paced the Golden Eagles, finishing in an eight-way tie for 26
th, finishing the final round with a 77.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (So., Barcelona, Spain) jumped up 12 spots to place in 41
st, shooting a final round 73.
Lukas Justesen (Sr., Detroit Lakes, Minn.) shot 78 during the final round and finished 49
th.
Connor Czirjak (So., Calgary, Alberta) placed 55
th.
Aiden Asby of Missouri Western was the gold medalist, shooting even on the first 18 holes and followed that up by shooting three under par the final two rounds.
Minnesota Crookston finished the fall season with three to-five finishes and five top-10 finishes. The Golden Eagles will resume play in the spring.
