FARGO, N.D. - The University of Minnesota Crookston jumping seat team opened the 2024-25 IHSA season by earning Reserve High Point Team Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 13 in Fargo, N.D. Jada Schimke (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.) was named the High Point Rider following Saturday's show at North Dakota State University.
Saturday, the Golden Eagles picked up four first-place ribbons to highlight the show, along with the Reserve Champion honor and Schimke's high-point rider accolade. Kristen Borchert took first place honors in Intermediate Fences. Schimke had great rides to take first in both Limit Fences and Intermediate Flat. Sophie Gustafson placed first in Novice Flat.
Belle Syrett (So., Winnipeg, Manitoba) took second for the Golden Eagles in Open Fences. Chloe Buccholz had a second-place finish in Novice Flat for Minnesota Crookston.
Syrett took third for Minnesota Crookston in Open Flat. Samantha Halliday (So., Fort Frances, Ontario) had a fourth-place finish in Novice Flat. The Golden Eagles had a host of fifth-place finishes on Saturday with Alexandra Wentland (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.), Christina Fiedler (Jr., Burtrum, Minn.), Jane Droll (So., Highland Park, Ill.) and Krista Duncan (Fr., Hancock, Minn.).
Zoe Waldron (Jr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Kaitlin Cleland (So., Northfield, Minn.), and Arabella Owen (Fr., Farmington, Minn.) all took sixth in their respective disciplines.
Minnesota Crookston looked to build on the positives heading into Sunday's show in Fargo. They were highlighted by Syrett taking first in Open Fences, and Droll in Limit Flat
Wentland, Schimke, Wentland, Waldron, and Owen all took third in Sunday's show.
Syrett had a fourth-place finish in Open Flat, as did Buccholz and Gustafson in Novice Flat.Â
Cleland, Fiedler, and Duncan all placed fifth on Sunday, while Borchert, Halliday, Cleland, and Jayci Lawrence (Fr., West Fargo, N.D.) placed sixth.Â
The Minnesota Crookston jumping seat team will next compete October 26 and 27 at the University of Wisconsin-River Falls.
