Golden Eagle Trap Shooting in Third after Fourth Week of 2023 Spring Season

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team is in third place in Conference 5 in the USA College Clay Target League after week four of competitive trap shooting. The Golden Eagles have 2,384.00 total points. Southwest Wisconsin Technical College is in first (3,383.5) and Lake Superior College is in second (2,781.00). The University of Southern Indiana is in fourth (1,950.5).

The Golden Eagles are also currently ahead of Mount Aloysius College, Valley City State University, and Indiana Wesleyan University.

Cole Girtz (Jr., Park Rapids, Minn.) is in a tie for third in the entire USA College Clay Target League after week four with an average of 24.63. He is also tied for third among male shooters in the USA College Clay Target League. Lily Krona (So., Bemidji, Minn.) is second among female shooters in the league with an average of 23.75 targets. Ellen Payne (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.) is sixth among females with an average of 22.88 targets. Hailey Olson (Jr., Albertville, Minn.) is tied for ninth with an average of 22.13 targets.

Girtz is second in the conference among male shooters with a season average of 49.25. Krona is second in the conference for female shooters with an average of 47.5. Payne is fourth among female shooters in the conference with a 45.75 average. Olson is sixth with an average of 44.25. Madie Wildfeuer (Sr., Ormsby, Minn.) is tied for seventh with a 43.25 average, while Kelsey Harms (Fr., Norwood Young America, Minn.) is ninth with a 42.75 average.

In week four, Girtz led the Golden Eagles by hitting a perfect 50-of-50 targets. Hunter Kasprowicz (So., Radium, Minn.) connected on 48-of-50 targets. Heather Kaup (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.), Krona, Collin Schlomann (Fr., Redwood Falls, Minn.), and Brandon Van Den Einde (Fr., Fertile, Minn.) hit 47-of-50 targets. Ethan Benedict (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.), Olson, Payne, and Peyton Verbout (Sr., Goodridge, Minn.) connected on 46-of-50 targets. Jayden Bergerson, Gracie Lunsetter (So., Gatzke, Minn.), and Wildfeuer hit 43-of-50 targets.

The Golden Eagles will complete their final week of the spring season this week.
