Minnesota Crookston Trap Finishes Regular Season Ranked Third in Conference

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston trap team finished the regular season in third place in USA College Clay Target League Conference 1A-4. The Golden Eagles had 3,075 points over five weeks of the regular season. Their week five score was 638.0, their third-best team score of the season. Minnesota Crookston finished 567.5 points behind Lake Superior College, and 619.5 points behind Southwest Wisconsin Technical College. They defeated Lake Area Technical College and Mount Aloysius College.

Lily Krona (So., Bemidji, Minn.) finished the regular season in third among all female shooters in the USA College Clay Target League, with an average of 23.7. Alyssa Kasprick (Sr., Thief River Falls, Minn.) finished tied for eighth among female shooters with an average of 22.7.

Cole Girtz (Jr., Park Rapids, Minn.) was ranked sixth in the conference for all male shooters, averaging 24.2 for the season. Nick Grams (Sr., Belle Plaine, Minn.) finished ninth among male shooters in the conference, with an average of 24.0. Krona was second in the conference for female shooters, with an average of 23.7. Kasprick finished fifth. Kelsey Harms (Fr., Norwood Young America, Minn.) was tied for seventh with teammate Heather Kaup (Fr., Forest Lake, Minn.), both averaging 22.1.

The Golden Eagles were guided during their final week by Girtz, who hit 49-of-50 targets. Harms also hit 49-of-50 targets to help lead the way, as did Charles Walsh (Sr., Park Rapids, Minn.) Grams connected on 47-of-50 targets for the Golden Eagles. Krona went 47-of-50, as did Ellen Payne (So., St. Louis Park, Minn.). Brandon Van Den Einde (Fr., Fertile, Minn.) went 46-of-50 for the final week, as did Peyton Verbout (Sr., Goodridge, Minn.). Gracie Lunsetter (So., Gatzke, Minn.) connected on 45-of-50 targets, as did Jaeden McCleary (Sr., Enderlin, N.D.). Josiah Bullivant (Sr., Dassel, Minn.) went 44-of-50 for the week, as did Cali Gutknecht (Fr., Mayer, Minn.), and Kasprick. Lane Hanson (Fr., Ada, Minn.) connected on 43-of-50 targets, as did Kaup, and Hailey Olson (Jr., Albertville, Minn.). Hunter Kasprowicz (So., Radium, Minn.)  was 41-of-50 for the week. Ethan Benedict (Fr., Maple Grove, Minn.) connected on 40-of-50, as did Collin Schlomann (Fr., Redwood Falls, Minn.). Madie Wildfeuer (Sr., Ormsby, Minn.) was 37-of-50.

The other USA College Clay Target League conferences were won by Mid Michigan College, Black Hawk College, and Western Michigan University.

The Golden Eagles will now compete in the 2022 College National Championship. It allows all USA College Clay Target teams to participate in a virtual event to cap off the 2022 fall season. The event will run from October 31-November 7. The teams in the USA College Clay Target League are: Minnesota Crookston, Mid Michigan, Garden City Community College, Jefferson Community College, Lawrence Technological University, Cayuga Community College, Kent State University, Black Hawk College, Williston State College, Black River Technical College, Indiana Wesleyan University, Wilmington College, Bemidji State University, Western Michigan, Bismarck State College, Itasca Community College, Bethany Lutheran College, Paul Smith's College, McPherson College, Ferris State University, Southwest Wisconsin Technical College, Lake Superior College, Lake Area Technical College, and Mount Aloysius College.

Minnesota Crookston is in their first season under Head Coach Anne Prudhomme and is in their fourth season as a program. They finished fifth out of six teams in the conference during the 2021 season.
