Thursday's Softball Games at St. Cloud State Cancelled; Golden Eagles Set to Play USF Friday and SMSU Saturday

 

CROOKSTON, Minn. – Thursday's doubleheader between the University of Minnesota Crookston softball team and St. Cloud State University has been cancelled due to frigid temperatures in St. Cloud, Minn.

The Golden Eagles will wrap up the 2017 season with a pair of games this weekend.  The weekend for the University of Minnesota Crookston softball team has been changed due to a forecast of rain.

The Golden Eagles will play University of Sioux Falls Fri., April 28 at 1 and 3 p.m. at Sherman Park in Sioux Falls, S.D. Minnesota Crookston will then face Southwest Minnesota State University Sat., April 29 at 1 and 3 p.m. at Mustang Field in Marshall, Minn.

The Golden Eagles come into the weekend with an 11-32-1 (1-20-1 NSIC) mark. Minnesota Crookston needs just one more win to tie the school record for wins set during the 2004 season. The Golden Eagles have had their lost four games cancelled due to weather and are looking to end the season on a strong note.

Minnesota Crookston has been led on the year by Samantha Proctor (Fr., C, Champlin, Minn.), who is hitting .299 with nine runs scored, two doubles, one triple, one home run and eight RBI's. In addition, Victoria Bayliss (Jr., OF, West Bloomfield, Mich.) enters the weekend hitting .284 with 20 runs scored and nine RBI's.

In the circle, senior Bailey Braatz (RHP, Buffalo, Minn.) has already become the winningest pitcher in program history. She is 8-13 with a 4.65 ERA in 116.0 innings pitched. Sammy Knudson (Sr., RHP, Fergus Falls, Minn.) and Heather Cunningham (Jr., RHP, Jacksonville, Fla.), have also been strong for Minnesota Crookston. Knudson has posted a 3.68 ERA in 13.1 innings pitched, while Cunningham has a 4.62 ERA in 36.1 innings pitched.

Sioux Falls comes into the weekend with a 26-23 (13-11 NSIC) record. The Cougars have been led by Jasmine Raquisi, who is batting .358 on the season with 20 runs scored, six home runs and 30 RBI's. In addition to Raquisi, Kerrigan Hoshaw is batting .357 with 19 runs scored, 10 home runs and 36 RBI's.

The USF pitching staff is led by Courtney Matthews, who has posted a 10-7 mark with a 2.83 ERA in 118.2 innings pitched. In addition to Matthews, Hoshaw is 11-9 with a 3.69 ERA in 117.2 innings pitched.
Southwest Minnesota State enters the weekend with a 19-21 (10-14 NSIC) record. The Mustangs are led by Sam Flack, who is batting .327 with 20 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs and 18 RBI's. In addition, Taylor Koloc is batting .320 with 19 runs scored, five home runs and 19 RBI's.

In the circle, Southwest Minnesota State looks to Alex O'Connor, who is 10-9 with a 2.84 ERA in 133.0 innings pitched. Shelby Crank has also had a strong season overall for the Mustangs. She is 4-7 with a 3.90 ERA in 55.2 innings pitched.
