Golden Eagle Softball to Play Northern State in Bemidji Saturday and at MSU Moorhead Sunday

CROOKSTON, Minn. – The University of Minnesota Crookston softball games slated to be played Sat., April 1 and Sun., April 2 at UMC Softball Field in Crookston, Minn., have been relocated due to field conditions at UMC Softball Field. The games Sat., April 1 will be played at 3 and 5 p.m. at BSU Softball Field in Bemidji, Minn. The games on Sunday have been site relocated to Moorhead, Minn., at 1 and 3 p.m.

Minnesota Crookston comes into the weekend with a 10-14 (0-2 NSIC) mark. The Golden Eagles are just one win from tying their wins total from the 2016 season and just two wins from tying a program-record 12 wins from the 2004 season.
The Golden Eagles are led in the circle by the play of Bailey Braatz (Sr., RHP, Buffalo, Minn.), who comes into the weekend with an 8-4 mark and a 3.03 ERA in 74.0 innings pitched. Out of the bullpen, Heather Cunningham (Jr., RHP, Jacksonville, Fla.) leads the way with a 0-1 mark with a 5.25 ERA in 10.2 innings pitched.

At the plate, the U of M Crookston is hitting .271 on the season. Victoria Bayliss (Jr., OF, West Bloomfield, Mich.) leads the clubhouse with a .372 average with 15 runs scored. She also had six RBI's. Hailey Fitzpatrick (Fr., 2B/SS, Becker, Minn.) has had a strong start to her career as she has a .344 average with 13 runs scored and 12 RBI's. She also leads the team with 14 stolen bases. Maggie Morales (So., OF/1B, Tucson, Ariz.) is hitting .327 with eight runs scored and eight RBI's.

Northern State enters the weekend with a 17-9 (2-0 NSIC) record. The Wolves are led in the circle by Jamie Fisher, who is 7-3 with a 1.77 ERA in 59.1 innings pitched. Missy Elkins comes in with a 7-6 mark with a 2.90 ERA.

The Wolves are led in the batter's box by Jenna Helgeson, who is hitting .382 with 22 runs scored, five home runs and 19 RBI's. Shayla Steinley enters the weekend with a .368 average with 17 runs scored and seven RBI's.

MSU Moorhead comes into the weekend with a 5-14 (0-2 NSIC) mark. The pitching staff for the Dragons is led by Becky Volkert, who is 1-2 with a 3.82 ERA in 36.2 innings pitched. In addition, Tori White is 4-4 with a 3.96 ERA in 46.0 innings pitched.

At the plate, MSU Moorhead is led by Madison Paige, who is batting .362 with five runs scored, nine doubles, two home runs and 11 RBI's. In addition, Taylor Roddie is batting .361 with 10 runs scored and 12 RBI's.

The Golden Eagles played both the Wolves and Dragons earlier this season. Minnesota Crookston split with MSU Moorhead in Aberdeen, S.D. and fell 16-0 to Northern State in Aberdeen, S.D.
