Golden Eagle Women's Basketball Set For Radisson Hotel Minneapolis St. Paul North Classic

CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team will look to build on their 2-0 start as they head to the Radisson Hotel Minneapolis St. Paul North Classic hosted by Concordia University, St. Paul. The games will be played at the Gangelhoff Center in St. Paul, Minn. UMC will take on tough competition as they battle No. 8 Michigan Tech University Fri., Nov. 20 at 6 p.m. They will then take on University of Jamestown Sat., Nov. 21 at 4:30 p.m.

Minnesota Crookston Preview
The Golden Eagles are 2-0 on the season after picking up wins over University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras and University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon. Minnesota Crookston will look continue their strong overall play as they head to St. Paul, Minn. for two tough games. UMC has been led on the season by Alexa Thielman (Sr., G, Buffalo, Minn.), who was an All-NSIC First Team pick as a junior. Thielman is averaging 13.0 points and 5.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 46.7 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to Thielman, freshman Alison Hughes (G, Janesville, Wis.) has gotten off to a strong start and is averaging 12.0 points and 4.0 rebounds per game, while shooting 60.0 percent from beyond the arc. NSIC North Preseason Player of the Year Katrina Nordick (Sr., F, Perham, Minn.) comes in averaging 9.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game.

In addition to Hughes, UMC has another talented freshman who is off to a strong start. Caitlin Michaelis (Fr., G, Marshfield, Wis.) enters the weekend averaging 7.5 points and 5.0 rebounds per game.

Michigan Tech Preview
The Huskies are currently ranked No. 8 in the nation after starting the season with a 1-0 mark after a win over University of Minnesota Duluth. Michigan Tech has been led so far by Morgan Anderson, who is averaging 17.0 points per game. She is shooting 44.4 percent from beyond the arc. In addition to Anderson, six-foot senior center Kylie Moxley is averaging 12.0 points and 14.0 rebonds per game.

The Huskies went 28-3 last season and would advance to the NCAA Midwest Regional Semifinal, where they lost to Ashland University.

Jamestown Preview
The Jimmies are 5-2 on the season and entered the preseason ranked No. 1 in the North Star Athletic Assoication. Jamestown is coming off wins over Saint Ambrose University and Viterbo University last weekend. Jamestown has been led by 6-2 forward Jessica Buck, who is averaging 17.3 points and 8.6 rebounds per game on the season. Kyra Dewald comes in averaging 10.6 points points per game, while Taylor Hammer is averaging 10.0 points and 6.9 rebounds per game.
