Box Score BAYAMON, Puerto Rico – The University of Minnesota Crookston women's basketball team concluded their trip to Puerto Rico with a 59-47 win over University of Puerto Rico-Bayamon, an NCAA Division II independent. The game was played at the Complejo Deportivo on the campus of Puerto Rico-Bayamon. The Golden Eagles conclude the trip with a 2-0 mark following wins over Puerto Rico-Bayamon and University of Puerto Rico-Rio Piedras.
The Golden Eagles were led by
Alexa Thielman (Sr., G, Buffalo, Minn.) with 15 points and seven boards. Thielman was 4-of-9 from beyond the arc.
Alison Hughes (Fr., G, Janesville, Wis.) had 11 points and five assists. Hughes was 3-of-5 from beyond the arc.
Micaela Noga (So., G, Parkers Prairie, Minn.) added 10 points and seven boards, while
Katrina Nordick (Sr., F, Perham, Minn.) added nine points and seven boards.
Off the bench,
Caitlin Michaelis (Fr., G, Marshfield, Wis.) had five points and four boards, while
Megan Taylor (R-Jr., F/C, Estelline, S.D.) added five points.
UMC was 20-of-48 for 41.7 percent, while they were 10-of-22 for 45.5 percent from beyond the arc.
Puerto Rico-Bayamon was led by 12 points and seven boards from Daneishka Canales. Annelise Vargas added nine points, while Jammillette Quinonez added seen points, as did Genesis Pagan.
Puerto Rico-Bayamon was 17-of-59 from the field for 28.8 percent and 5-of-19 for 26.3 percent from the field.
The Golden Eagles will return to the mainland of the United States and then head to Concordia University, St. Paul for the Radisson Hotel Minneapolis St. Paul North Classic. The Golden Eagles will play games against University of Jamestown and Michigan Tech University, ranked No. 8 in the nation.
