CROOKSTON, Minn. — The Golden Eagles closed out their season Monday with a doubleheader at the UMC Softball Field against St. Cloud State. Minnesota, Crookston put up a fight but fell short in both games, 12-8 and 12-9.
The season finishes for the Golden Eagles with an overall mark of 8-30 and 2-22 in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference.
The four seniors for the Golden Eagles played brilliantly in their final games of their collegiate careers.

Sarena Diederichs and
Steph Thomas were a combined 19-of-35 (.543) in the two Monday games.
Katie Bowar was 3-of-8 with four runs scored, three RBI and two walks.
Kayla Bowar was 5-of-9 with three runs, two RBI and two walks. Diederichs was 5-of-9 with a home run, a run scored and three RBI. Thomas was 6-of-9 with a home run, two runs scored, six RBI and a walk.
In game one, Minnesota, Crookston took a 5-3 lead with five runs in the fourth inning.
Kayla Bowar got an RBI single to start the fourth inning scoring and
Katie Bowar followed up with a bases clearing double to right center that scored three.
Katie Bowar later scored on a wild pitch.
The Huskies tied the game in the fifth with two runs and six more in the sixth inning to take an 11-5 lead. The Golden Eagles got back two runs in the bottom of the sixth and the teams traded runs in the seventh.
Thomas was 4-of-5 at the plate, while
Katie Bowar was 2-of-4 at the plate in the game with a double, two runs scored and three RBI.
Rachel Schoenborn also had two hits in the game.
Stacey Marcum pitched five innings for Minnesota, Crookston, allowing eight earned runs (ten total) on 11 hits and one walk.
Erin Fowle pitched the final two innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits and one walk.
In game two, the Golden Eagles were up 5-2 after two innings. They scored four runs in the second when
Kayla Bowar got an RBI double, Thomas singled to center, scoring two runs, and Diederichs got an RBI single.
St. Cloud State eventually answered with nine runs in the fifth inning to go up 11-5. The Golden Eagles answered with a four-run bottom of the fifth thanks to a three-run home run by Thomas and a solo homer by Diederichs to make it 11-9. The Huskies held off Minnesota, Crookston after that charge though.

Thomas pitched fifth innings, allowing ten earned runs (11 total) on 11 hits and one walk. Fowle pitched the final two innings, allowing no earned runs (one total) on three hits and no walks.
