(Sioux Falls, S.D.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball traveled to Sioux Falls, S.D. on Friday, April 22 to take on the #12 ranked Augustana Vikings. The 12 day layoff didn't seem to affect the Golden Eagles as they outhit the Vikings 7-5 in game one but fell 3-0 after leaving six runners on base. Chelsea Durland threw outstanding in game two for Augustana holding the Golden Eagles to one hit in the 8-0 Viking victory.
Every Golden Eagle but two had a hit in the first game but two players. UMC left six runners on including bases loaded in the fourth inning.
Erin Fowle (P, 5-8, So, Winnipeg, Manitoba) threw six outstanding innings against Augustana. She went six innings, gave up five hits and three earned runs. Freshman
Kate Plautz (OF, 5-8, Fr, Forest Lake, Minn.) earned the team's only hit in game two.
The team travels to Wayne, Neb. on Saturday, April 23 to play the Wayne State Wildcats. Game time is set for 12:00 p.m. The Golden Eagles return home on Monday, April 25 and Tuesday, April 26 to host MSU Moorhead and Bemidji State University. Game times are set for 2 p.m. on both days.
