Bulldog Pitching Shuts Down Golden Eagles

(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball opened the home season against NSIC rival Minnesota Duluth. Pitching was the name of the game as UMD's pitchers held the Golden Eagles to just five hits over the two games. Although no runs were scored until the fourth inning of both games, the Bulldogs came away with the 12-0, 12-1 sweep.

Stacey Marcum (P/3B, 5-7, So, Merill, Wis.), Steph Thomas (P/DP, 5-9, Sr, St. Albert, Alberta), Sarena Diederichs (C, 5-8, Sr, St. Cloud, Minn.), Kayla Bowar (SS, 5-4, Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) and Rachel Schoenborn (2B, 5-4, Fr, Anchorage, Alaska) each had a hit for UMC. Bowar added the teams only double and RBI.

The team returns to the UMC Softball Field on Thursday, April 14 when they host Valley City State University in a non-conference double-header. First game is scheduled to start at 3 p.m.
