(Titusville, Fla.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball team played day two of their spring training trip to the Cocoa Expo in Titusville, Fla. Today went much like yesterday as the Golden Eagles won the first game 7-3 against Johnson State College and fell in the afternoon game 3-0 to MSU Moorhead.
Kayla Bowar (SS, 5-4, Sr, Moorhead, Minn.) led all Golden Eagle hitters with four RBI on the day and earned seven assists at the shortstop position. Freshman
Rachel Schoenborn (2B, 5-4, Fr, Anchorage, Alaska) had an outstanding day at the plate going 3-6 (.500). Pitcher
Steph Thomas (P/DP, 5-9, Sr, St. Albert, Alberta) earned the victory in the first game throwing a complete game and holding a no hitter into the fifth inning.
Stacey Marcum (P, 5-7, So, Merill, Wis.) threw against MSU Moorhead and tossed an outstanding complete game giving up seven hits, striking out three and allowing just two earned runs.
Minnesota, Crookston is 3-5 overall this season. The team returns to the field tomorrow morning at 9 a.m. to play Huntington University. The Golden Eagles play again immediately after against Greenville College at 11 a.m.
