(Crookston, Minn.) – The University of Minnesota, Crookston Women's Softball team opens the 2011 season this Saturday and Sunday at the Husky Dome Invitational in St. Cloud, Minn. The Golden Eagles play both Southwest Minnesota State and Northern State on Saturday. Game times are set for 1 and 3 p.m. The team returns to the field on Sunday to play St. Cloud State and MSU Moorhead at 3 and 5 p.m. All games are non-conference games.
“The team has been practicing extremely hard and are looking forward to some live competition this weekend,” says Head Coach Mitch Bakken. “It is a great opportunity for the team to play some tough NSIC competition before we head to Florida to take part in the Cocoa Expo.”
Following the Husky Dome Invite, the Golden Eagles travel to Titusville, Fla. to play in the Cocoa Expo. The team plays 10 games from March 12-16. Minnesota, Crookston opens the NSIC schedule on April 2-3 when the team travels to Winona State and Upper Iowa. The conference double-headers are scheduled to start at 1 p.m. and noon respectively. UMC opens the home schedule on April 5 when Bemidji State comes to town for a double-header. Game times are to be determined.
