Blaine, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are heading to the WCCHA Semifinal following a 7-0 victory over North Dakota State University. With this win, the Golden Eagles will take on the University of Minnesota tomorrow evening for a spot in the WCCHA Championship. In net for the Golden Eagles was Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) who entered the night with a 10-2-0 record, a 2.67 goals against average, and a .908 save percentage. For the Bison, it was Brode Hillstrom with a 4-8-1 record, a 5.47 goals against average, and a .858 save percentage.

Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) was the Golden Eagle that got the goal scoring started, finding a loose puck with Hillstrom laying on his back and cashing in on the golden opportunity. Alexander Bailey (5th, D, Crosby, N.D.) and Fox Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) had the assists. Just a few minutes later, Ben Hines (Jr., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) fired home a wrist shot to extend the lead to two, Brody Nordmark (Fr., D, Souris, N.D.) and Logan Syrup (5th, F, Park River, N.D.) assisted on the goal. The Golden Eagles held onto that lead for the remainder of the period.

The second period was largely dominated by the Golden Eagles, but the momentum stuck in their favor thanks to a timely save by Goody. With roughly 12 minutes to play, the Bison had a nearly perfect opportunity with a wide open net in front of them and a chance to make it a one goal game. But, miraculously, Adam Goody slid across the crease and managed to get a pad on it and turn away the chance, keeping the lead at two goals. Shortly after, Braden Van de Kraats (So., F, Medicine Hat, Albera) got a partial breakaway and flipped the puck past Hillstrom. Anthony Foster and Brandon Kelly (Jr., D, Minto, N.D.) assisted on the goal. Five minutes later, Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) put home a perfect cross-crease pass from Anthony Foster with Braden Van de Kraats earning the second assist. Nearing the end of the second period, Fox Dodds decided to join in on the goal scoring fun and add the fifth Golden Eagles goal, with Ben Hines and Kadin Edwards (Fr., F, Crooskton, Minn.) assisting. 5-0 was the score heading for the final frame.

The third period dragged a bit at times, with a chunk of the early portions taking place in the neutral zone. But Adam Goody made a few more inhuman saves to ensure that the Golden Eagles lead was safe with him in the net. With nearly 10 minutes to play in the game, Aidan McPhee (Sr., D, Brea, Calif.) added onto the lead with a shot from the point that Hillstrom got a piece of, but it bounced over his head and into the net. Alexander Bailey and Fox Dodds collecting the assists. The Golden Eagles added one more goal late, with Logan Syrup sneaking one past the left pad of Hillstrom to put the Golden Eagles ahead 7-0. His goal was assisted by Anthony Foster and Fox Dodds. The Golden Eagles closed out the night with a 7-0 win, and a spot in the semifinals. Adam Goody was the hero of tonight's game, stopping all 18 shots he faced in the team's decisive win.

The Golden Eagles will play their semifinal game tomorrow evening at 5 p.m. against the University of Minnesota Golden Gophers.
