Fargo, N.D. - The Golden Eagles and Bison returned to the ice Saturday afternoon to wrap up their season series. In net for the Golden Eagles was Adam Goody (Sr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) who started in last Friday night's OT thriller. For the Bison, it was Hunter Fey. The Golden Eagles moved to 4-0-0 on the season, thanks to an 8-1 win to sweep the season series.

The first period had a rocky start, with the Bison striking first off of a goal from Max Jackson on the powerplay. Less than two minutes later, on a powerplay of their own, Braydon Caron (Fr., F, Mayville, N.D.) tied the game at one. His goal was assisted by Anthony Launderville (Fr., F, Duluth, Minn.) and Landon Siemens (Fr., D, Bottineau, N.D.) the rest of the period rolled on and the Golden Eagles and Bison were heading to intermission with the score knotted at one.

The second period started with a bang as the Golden Eagles captured their first lead of the afternoon thanks to a five-hole goal from Mason Romfo (Jr., F, Langdon, N.D.) that was assisted by Anthony Foster (Sr., F, Warroad, N.D.) who stripped a Bison defender of the puck before feeding it to Romfo in front of the net. That goal was just three minutes and twenty seconds into the middle frame and was followed by a Brandon Colborn (Fr., F, Crookston, Minn.) just two minutes later. His goal, which was the first of his career, saw Walker McGillis (Fr., F, Mayville, N.D.) and Brody Nordmark (So., D, Souris, N.D.) with the assists. With just over eight minutes to play in the second period, Walker McGillis scored a goal of his own, his goal was assisted by Brandon Colborn and Colton Balcerak (So., F, Carpentersville, Ill.) to put the Golden Eagles ahead by three. The Golden Eagles were not done there, four minutes later it was another Mason Romfo goal thanks to an assist by Anthony Foster, and the team carried the 5-1 lead into the third period.

The Golden Eagles kept that momentum going in the third. Rudy Moser (Jr., F/D, Langdon, N.D.) had two huge blocked shots in front of the Golden Eagle net which sprung an odd man rush going the other way. Braydon Caron took advantage of the offensive zone entry, scoring his second of the game. Anthony Launderville and Anthony Foster tallied assists on the team's sixth goal. A few minutes later, Ben Hines (Sr., F, Devils Lake, Minn.) extended the lead to six goals, that goal was assisted by Braden Van de Kraats (Jr., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) and Braydon Caron. On the powerplay, with just under six minutes to play, Landon Siemens sniped the puck over the right shoulder of Fey to put the Golden Eagles ahead 8-1. He was assisted by Braydon Caron for his fourth point of the game and Tyler Lorenz (Jr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) for the Golden Eagles' second powerplay goal of the afternoon.

The Golden Eagles held on to the 8-1 win, outshooting their opponent 40-21 and earning the series sweep. The next time the Golden Eagles take the ice will be Friday, October 23rd in Brookings, South Dakota as the team takes on the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits.
