Crookston, Minn. - Golden Eagle Hockey will be in St. Paul, Minnesota this weekend to take on their rivals, the St. Thomas Tommies. These two programs know each other all too well, having played each other nine times. The Golden Eagles are 2-6-1 in those nine games and have yet to defeat the Tommies on the road. Of these nine games, four have been Golden Eagles home games, two have been Tommies home games, and three have been at the WCCHA Tournament in Blaine, Minnesota.
The Golden Eagles are 2-2-0 at home against the Tommies, 0-2-0 on the road, and have lost all three WCCHA Tournament games, with one of those being the WCCHA Championship in 2023 that went to overtime. In those nine games, the Golden Eagles have scored 24 goals, an average of 2.67 goals per game and have allowed 32 goals for an average of 3.55 goals against per game. These two teams always play each other tightly, with the highest margin of victory being only two goals and six of the nine games being decided by just one goal.
The Golden Eagle to watch for this weekend's pivotal matchup is Anthony Foster (Sr., F, Warroad, Minn.) who currently leads the Golden Eagles in points with 11 and is tied for the team lead in goals with five and assists with six. Foster has had plenty of success in his eight games against the Tommies, scoring three goals and four assists for seven points.
The Golden Eagles and Tommies will face off at the Charles M. Schulz-Highland Arena on Friday at 8 p.m. and Saturday at the Lee and Penny Anderson Arena on Saturday at 10 a.m.
