DANBURY, Conn. - University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian rider Maggie Lawler (Fr., Algonquin, Ill.) was named an ECAC Rider of the Week for the second time in February. Lawler was selected as the ECAC Fences Rider of the Week after a great weekend with two meets at the University of Tennessee-Martin. She joins Emma Mutnansky (So., Cass Lake, Minn.), who has been selected as the ECAC Rider of the Week three times this season.
Lawler recorded a perfect 2-0 record this weekend at UT-Martin in the Equitation Over Fences. Lawler started her weekend strong with a 79-73 win over her Delaware State opponent on UTM's "Pearl", and continued her success against UTM junior Kate Mills, earning an 84-81 victory. Her score of 84 versus UTM tied for the highest Equitation Over Fences score of all three meets hosted at UTM this weekend, and earned Lawler her first career MOP honors in the event. Lawler was also the only rider out of the three meets hosted at UTM this weekend to earn both of her Equitation Over Fences points and get an MOP.
She helped the Golden Eagles record their first-ever NCEA win, as they defeated Delaware State University Saturday. Minnesota Crookston will next compete at the ECAC Dual-Discipline Championship March 26-28 in Felton, Del.
