CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team is set to face off with Delaware State University at 8:05 a.m., Saturday, February 21 and the University of Tennessee-Martin at 11 a.m., Saturday at the Ned McWherther Agricultural Complex in Martin, Tenn. Tomorrow is the NCEA Meet of the Week in Martin.
The Golden Eagles enter the week with an 0-6 mark. UT Martin is 3-6, while Delaware State is 2-2-1. Minnesota Crookston lost to UT-Martin in Brookings, S.D. 10-6 October 3 in Brookings, S.D., and Delaware State 13-6 in the season opener in September.
Minnesota Crookston has been led this season by three-time ECAC Horsemanship Rider of the Week Emma Mutnansky (So., Cass Lake, Minn.), and Maggie Lawler (Fr., Algonquin, Ill.), who is coming off an ECAC Flat Rider of the Week nod.
The Golden Eagles last competed against Fresno State and UC Davis February 6-7, falling 16-3 in both meets. In Flat against Fresno State, Belle Syrett (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) picked up a victory in Flat with a 73-70 result. Julianne Lurie (Fr., Seminole, Fla.) earned an 83-80 win in Fences, while Addison Pike (Fr., Grand Haven, Mich.) took a point in Horsemanship.
Minnesota Crookston was guided by a pair of MOP performances against UC-Davis. Lawler posted a 93 in Flat on Camelot to defeat her opponent Sophia Blake and win a point for the Golden Eagles, as well as the MOP. Pike earned the MOP in Horsemanship with a 73-72.5 win over Ada Hirschfield on Ranger.
