Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are back for their final two home games of the season as they host the South Dakota State University Jackrabbits. The two teams have already met for a series once this year, which was played in Brookings, South Dakota. Each team won one game, with the Golden Eagles winning the first 2-1 and losing the second 5-3.
Those two games back in October are the only two games these teams have played against each other in program history. The Golden Eagles scored five goals in the two games, averaging 2.5 per game, they allowed six for three goals against per game. In that win, it was Braden Van de Kraats (So., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) giving the Golden Eagles both of their goals.
The Golden Eagles Players to Watch are both Dylan Neubauer (5th, D, Grand Forks, N.D.) and captain Logan Syrup (5th, F, Park River, N.D.) who both will be a huge part of this weekend's senior day. Syrup and Neubauer are two of five fifth year seniors playing for the Golden Eagles this season, but they are the only two who have been here every year of their five year college careers. Syrup has 17 points, eight goals and nine assists, in 16 games this year. He is also the highest scoring player in Golden Eagle Hockey's history. Nebauer has six points, one goal and five assists, in 15 games this season. He has become one of the best defensemen the Golden Eagles have had in their program, and has become a great leader. Neubauer was named an alternate captain at the beginning of the season.
Puck drop between the Golden Eagles and Jackrabbits is set for Friday at 8 p.m. at the Crookston Sports Center. Saturday's puck drop is set for Saturday at 1 p.m.
