Crookston, Minn. - The Golden Eagles are 2-0-0 as they head down to Fargo, North Dakota to face off with their WCCHA Northwest division opponent, the North Dakota State University Bison. The Golden Eagles lead the all-time series with a 10-1-0 record, they have outscored the Bison 78-30. The last time these two teams met, the Golden Eagles eliminated the Bison in the quarter finals at the WCCHA Tournament with a 7-0 win. In that game, Anthony Foster (Sr., F, Warroad, Minn.) led the way with a goal and three assists while Adam Goody backstopped an 18 save shutout.
The Golden Eagle to watch for the first conference series of the season is one of the newest members of the team, Anthony Launderville (Fr., F, Duluth, Minn.) who had a great opening weekend in the Maroon and Gold. Launderville's goal and two assists against Lake Region State College is good for the second most points and assists for the Golden Eagles. His goal, which was scored during Saturday's game, was the first of Launderville's career. Launderville will look to keep that momentum going as the season progresses, and it starts with this weekend in Fargo.
The Golden Eagles' 10 goals on opening weekend are the second most the team has scored on opening weekend since scoring 13 against Jamestown in 2024. Leading the Golden Eagle in goals after the first two games are Anthony Foster and Braden Van de Kraats (Jr., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) with two goals each. Leading the team in points is Tyler Lorenz (Jr., D, Shakopee, Minn.) with four points, including the overtime winner in the incredible comeback win on opening night.Â
The Golden Eagles will now look to build on the opening weekend success as they head to Fargo, which marks the start of a four weekend road trip before they return to home ice on November 13th. This Friday's game against the Bison will be the first of two this weekend, with puck drop set for 7 p.m. in Fargo, North Dakota at H.A. Thompson and Sons Arena.Â
