Wichita, Kan. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf sits in first place, one stroke ahead of Newman University following two rounds at the Newman '25 Fall Invitational. There are seven teams at the Invitational.
Minnesota Crookston shot 285 during the first round and 287 during the second round, good for four under par. The 285 shot during the first round marks the best three round scores for the Golden Eagles in program history, dating back to their last tournament.
As one would expect with the Golden Eagles being in first place, they had great days from a number of golfers. Minnesota Crookston has three individuals in the top five and five in the top eight.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) was outstanding on the day, shooting 71 during the first round and a career-low 67 throughout the second round.
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain) finished in third on the day, including a 68 in the first round.
Holdyn Evjen (So., Hermantown) shot a career low 67, followed by a 75 during the second round.
Gabe Weller (So., Alexandria, Minn.) and
Carson Shultis (Sr., Fargo, N.D.) are each tied in seventh, shooting one over par on the day.
Minnesota Crookston will look to hold on to their slim lead tomorrow during the final round.
