FELTON, Del. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team opened the 2025-26 season with a pair of meets Friday, September 26 at Dovington Training Center in Felton, Del. The Golden Eagles tied the University of the South (Sewanee) 5-5, but fell on a raw score 746-703. Minnesota Crookston fell to Delaware State University 13-6. Emma Mutnansky (So., Cass Lake, Minn.) was named Horsemanship MOP against the Hornets.
In the Sewanee Meet, the Golden Eagles took the Fences point 3-2. Maggie Lawler (Fr., Algonquin, Ill.) got the win on Salty with a 74-70 victory over Campbell Flanagan. Belle Syrett (Jr., Winnipeg, Manitoba) picked up a 76-41 win on Peter. Julianne Lurie (Fr., Seminole, Fla.) earned an 82-80 victory on Cooper.
On the Flat, Lawler picked up an 85-70 win on Salty. Ryann Mitchell (Fr., Camano Island, Wash.) got a win in her debut weekend as a collegiate rider. Mitchell won 78-71 on Maverick. Lawler's 85 tied for the second-highest Equitation on the Flat score in program history.
In the Delaware State meet, Mutnansky picked up the Horsemanship win 77-75, for a new career high, and the second-highest Horsemanship score in program history in order to take the Horsemanship MOP. It was her first career MOP honor. Her performance helped the Golden Eagles to a 3-2 Horsemanship point victory. Siara Mosby (So., Bremerton, Wash.) earned a 69-67.5 victory on Ellie Mae, while McKenna Hooyer (Jr., Rock Rapids, Iowa) made her debut at Minnesota Crookston this weekend with a 74-72 win.
Syrett set a new program high in the Flat with a score of 86, to upend Grace Mangrum on Carl. Lurie earned a win in Fences over former Golden Eagle Kaylynn Berry. Brooke Hoven (Sr., Ankeny, Iowa) made her NCEA debut and earned a 68-65 victory on Aspen.
The Golden Eagles return to action against the University of Tennessee Martin October 3 and South Dakota State University October 4.
