Lake City, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston men's golf was outstanding during the first round of the Jewel in Lake City, sitting six under par as a team and sitting in third place, right below Bemidji State and Winona State.
Minnesota Crookston currently has four golfers in the top-30, led by
Marc Bofarull Balleste (Jr., Barcelona, Spain), who sits in first place, shooting a career-low 67, tying Jake Sanders and Devin Kucy for the lowest rounds by a Golden Eagle since 2009.
As a team, the Golden Eagles shot their best round recorded since 2009, shooting 282 as a team.
Gannon Walsh (Sr., Belgrade, Minn.) shot a career best 70 on the day and sits two under par and is in 11
th following the first round. Jack Justesen (So., Hawley, Minn.) had his best round as a Golden Eagle, also shooting a career low of 72.
Connor Czirjak (Jr., Calgary, Alberta) is in 27
th after shooting one over par, while
Andrew Wilhelm (Jr., Fargo, N.D.) ended the first round one over par.
Minnesota Crookston finished Monday with 17 team birdies and an eagle, shot by Bofarull Balleste.
The Golden Eagles will look to stay scorching hot tomorrow as they finish the Jewel.
