CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston equestrian team is set for a pair of NCEA meets in Auburn, Ala., Friday, February 7 at 10 a.m., against the University of Tennessee-Martin and Friday, February 7 at 3 p.m., against No. 1 Auburn University. The meet will be a Homecoming for Minnesota Crookston Head Coach Haley Pembroke, who rode for the Tigers from 2016-20. The meets will take place at Auburn University Equestrian Center.
The Golden Eagles enter the weekend with an 0-7 mark in NCEA, but they have shown marked improvement. UT-Martin is 4-3 entering the weekend, while Auburn is 6-1. Minnesota Crookston is led by Madison Wojcek (So., Bremerton, Wash.), as she earned her first-ever Most Outstanding Performance (MOP) honor on her way to an ECAC Horsemanship Rider of the Week accolade. In addition, Ava Jo Glenn (So., Ennis, Texas) was named MOP in Horsemanship against Delaware State.
Minnesota Crookston picked up a point against Delaware State in Fences from Kaylynn Berry (Fr., Louisville, Ky.). Alexandra Wentland (Sr., Colorado Springs, Colo.) notched a win in Fences, as well. Samantha Lyons (Fr., Lisbon, N.D.) tallied a win over the Hornets in Reining.
Against UC Davis, Wojcek and Emma Mutnansky (Fr., Cass Lake, Minn.) earned victories in Horsemanship. In the meet with Fresno State, Mutnansky earned a Horsemanship win, as did Wojcek.
Both meets against UT-Martin and Auburn will be the NCEA Dual Discipline Meets of the Week.
