CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston baseball team opens the 2025 season with a three-game series at Stanislaus State February 14-16 at Warrior Baseball Field in Turlock, Calif.

The three-game series will mark the first games for Minnesota Crookston against Stanislaus State. Minnesota Crookston has not played in the state of California during the NCAA Division II era. 

The Golden Eagles are coming off their second winningest season in program history with a 35-16 mark. They set a school record for conference wins with 28. Stanislaus State is 0-4 currently. They play Saint Martin's University in a three-game series this weekend before hosting the Golden Eagles February 14-16.

Minnesota Crookston heads into the 2025 season with a mix of returning players, and newcomers. The Golden Eagles have five starters returning in the line-up. Sawyer Satrom (Sr., IF, Portland, N.D.) is back after hitting .326, with 43 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs, and 26 RBIs. Josh Dykhoff (Jr., RHP/DH, Wadena, Minn.) hit .301 as a sophomore, with 50 runs scored, 11 home runs, and 45 RBIs. Kobe Senn (R-Jr., IF, Fargo, N.D.) returns after swinging .275, with 35 runs scored, seven doubles, two home runs, and 22 RBIs. Danny Wensloff (R-Sr., OF/C, Roseau, Minn.) is back after hitting .271, with 35 runs scored, seven home runs, and 40 RBIs. Kodi Miller (Sr., C, Grand Rapids, Minn.) returns after hitting .291, with 24 runs scored, eight home runs, and 28 RBIs.

The Golden Eagles also have several players who could have elevated roles. Cole Hebl, Angelo Pacyga, Aaron Wensloff, Connor Bushbaum, Caden Kappes, Americo Sculati, and Jonah Norman all saw the field last season. Minnesota Crookston has several players who either redshirted or are new to the program, who could see the field in 2025 with Landon Hanson, Dylan Debilzen, Kyler Miller, Jaiden Smith, and Brock Larsen.

On the bump, the U of M Crookston is led by Dykhoff, who was an All-NSIC Second Team selection in 2024. He went 3-3, with a 5.74 ERA in 62.2 innings pitched, with 57 strikeouts, and 22 walks. Nate Benning (So., LHP, Browerville, Minn.) is 4-1, with 52 innings pitched, with 34 strikeouts, and 26 walks. Nate Grafsgaard posted an 0-1 mark, with a 2.18 ERA in 20.2 innings, with four saves. Isaac Wensloff (RHP, Roseau, Minn.) notched a 6.30 ERA in 40 innings pitched. Isaac Roers tossed 22.1 innings, with 25 strikeouts, and 14 walks. Caden Edwards was 2-0, with a 4.96 ERA, in 16.1 innings. Max Weber was 3-1, with a 3.48 ERA in 10.1 innings.

Stanislaus State has started out the season with an 0-4 mark, after losing all four games to Central Washington. The Warriors went 19-27-1 in 2024. Jackson Brooks is hitting .500, with two runs scored, and two RBIs. Tyler Van Dyk comes in swinging .429, with one run scored, and two RBIs. Danny Murphy is hitting .417, with one run scored, and one RBI, while JD Madrigal is hitting .389, with five runs scored, two home runs, and five RBIs. 

On the mound, the Warriors look to Caleb Bertoncini, who is 0-1 with a 1.93 ERA in 4.2 innings. Opponents are hitting just .188 against Bertoncini. Rocco Gurrola has a 5.40 ERA in five innings, with eight strikeouts. Cameron Rosen has a 0.00 ERA in 3.1 innings, with four strikeouts.
