FARGO, N.D. - The Minnesota Crookston western equestrian team competed in their final regular-season IHSA meet Saturday, February 22 at North Dakota State University.

The meet was highlighted by Samantha Lyons (Fr., Lisbon, N.D.), and Kassidy Kalka (Jr., Cottage Grove, Minn.) each qualifying for the IHSA Regionals Sunday.Â

Minnesota Crookston had a host of first-place finishes. Madison Wojcek (So., Bremerton, Wash.) took first in Open Reining. Hailey Hanson (Fr., Inver Grove Heights, Minn.) notched a first-place nod in her section of Open Horsemanship. Emma Mutnansky (Fr., Cass Lake, Minn.) took first in her section of Open Horsemanship. Alexis Heaton (So., Frazee, Minn.) placed first in Rookie A Horsemanship.

Lyons took second in Open Reining, while RaeAnna Danielson (Sr., Harris, Minn.) placed second in her section of Open Horsemanship. Eleanor Pettitt (So., Minnetrista, Minn.) placed second in her section of Level II Ranch Riding after a strong ride. Kalka took second in her section of Level II Ranch Riding.Â

Brooke Hoven (Jr., Ankeny, Iowa) took third in her section of Open Horsemanship. Kalka placed second in her section of Level II Horsemanship. Eliza Freund (Sr., Cando, N.D.), Kianna Dolezal (So., Silver Lake, Minn.) , Siara Mosby (Fr., Bremerton, Wash.), and Jayci Lawrence (Fr., West Fargo, N.D.) also had third-place nods.

Wojcek, and Freund took fourth in Open Horsemanship, and Level II Ranch Riding, respectively. Hailey Schlotfeldt placed sixth in Rookie B Horsemanship.

The Golden Eagles will compete in IHSA Western Regionals Sunday, February 23 in Fargo, N.D.
