Fargo, N.D. - The Golden Eagles have completed the sweep against North Dakota State University following a dominant 11-6 win. For the Golden Eagles, Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) took the net, he entered the afternoon with a 3-1-0 record, a 3.00 goals against average, and .901 save percentage. For the Bison, Bode Hillstrom was back in the net.
The first period was heavily in the Golden Eagles' favor, with Fox Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) opening the scoring just 2:16 into the opening frame. Ben Hines (Jr., F, Detroit Lakes, Minn.) and Jackson Dodds (5th, F, Watford City, N.D.) had the assists. 30 seconds later, Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) scored an unassisted goal to put the Golden Eagles ahead by two. Only a minute later, Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) scored with assists from Tyler Lorenz (So., D, Shakopee, Minn.) and Riley Benson (Fr., D, Mentor, Minn.) to make the game 3-0. There was a three minute gap between the Golden Eagles' third and fourth goals, with Mason Romfo scoring his second goal of the game, Anthony Foster collected the lone assist on the goal. 20 seconds later, the Bison got one past Adam Goody with Jacob Pierson scoring. With 5:27 remaining in the period, Braden Van de Kraats (So., F, Medicine Hat, Alberta) scored with assists from Romfo and Foster. The Golden Eagles had one more first period goal left in them, with Riley Benson netting his second of the year, Van de Kraats had the only assist on the goal.
The second period started with two very quick goals from the Bison, with a goal from Nick Helland just 26 seconds into the second period. A minute later, Davis Gohman put the Bison within three. The Golden Eagles did not let the three goal lead stand for long before extending it to four with a goal from Brody Nordmark (Fr., D, Souris, N.D.) for his first career goal. Mason Romfo and Ben Hines had the assists. Four minutes later, Anthony Foster scored his second goal of the game, Van de Kraats and Romfo tallied the assists. A minute after the Golden Eagles' ninth goal, Fox Dodds added on to the lead with an assist from his brother Jackson Dodds. The Golden Eagles went into the second intermission leading 10-3 following Mason Romfo's hat trick goal with seven minutes left in the second period.
The third period went the Bison's way, but it was too little too late. One minute in, Kyan Rieder scored the fourth goal of the game for the Bison. Six minutes later, Pierson potted his second of the game. There was finally a long break between goals, with 10 minutes rolling off the clock before Ben Hines put home the Golden Eagles' 11th goal of the game. Dalston Kelly (Jr., F, Minto, N.D.) had the assist for his sixth point in the last five games. With just one minute left on the clock, Ryan Scherf scored for the Bison, and the game came to an end with the Golden Eagles winning 11-6.
Adam Goody finished the game with 43 saves on 49 shots against for his fourth win of the season. Brode Hillstrom made 32 saves on 42 shots against. The Golden Eagles were outshot in both games this weekend, but came away with the only stat that matters; two wins. The Golden Eagles are back home Friday, November 21st at 7 p.m. as they host the University of Minnesota Duluth.
