Crookston, Minn. - The season is officially underway in just nine days when the Golden Eagles travel to St. Cloud, Minn. for a matchup with St. Cloud State University. Before that first game, however, they will have an intersquad scrimmage on Saturday, October 4th. The scrimmage will be important for this team, as they welcome in seven new members.
An important note for the Golden Eagles is that each of their top seven scorers will return to the program in 2025-26. Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.) was the top scorer last year in goals and points, he was also tied for second in all ACHA Division Two scoring. The program will also see the return of their top playmaker, Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) who has recorded 107 assists in two seasons with 54 in his freshman year and 53 last year as a sophomore.
In net, there will be a two goalie rotation. The two goalies returning are Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) and Tyler Swanson (So., G, Moorhead, Minn.) who each registered a start in the Regional Tournament in February. Goody, who is entering his third year in Crookston, has posted a career 2.53 goals against average, a .911 save percentage and a record of 19-7-2 in the regular season. Goody has played in 29 games since joining the team in 2023-24. Swanson is coming into his second year as a Golden Eagle following a strong freshman season. Swanson recorded a 4-2-0 record, along with a 2.14 goals against average and a .913 save percentage.
Last year, the Golden Eagles were a goal away from securing a spot in the National Tournament. Now, following an offseason with some major roster turnover, the program is looking to make their first Nationals appearance.
