Crookston, Minn. – Another weekend, another sweep for Golden Eagle hockey. The Golden Eagles scored the games first four goals on Saturday afternoon inside the Crookston Sports Center to cruise to an 8-2 win over North Dakota.
Minnesota Crookston moves to 4-0-0.
It wouldn't take long for the Golden Eagles to strike as
Colton Balcerak (Fr., F, Carpenersville, Ill.) would score his first career goal with an assist from
Dalston Kelly (Jr., F, Minto, N.D.).
Minnesota Crookston would find the back of the net three more times in the first with goals from the Dodds brothers,
Fox Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.) and
Jackson Dodds (Sr., F, Watford City, N.D.), as well as
Mason Romfo (So., F, Langdon, N.D.).
It would be 4-0 after the first 20 minutes.
UND would answer right back as Cole Deraney would score his second goal of the weekend, but
Fox Dodds would score his second goal of the night and fifth of the weekend to regain the four goal cushion.
Tyler Lorenz (So., D, Shakopee, Minn.) and
Anthony Foster (Jr., F, Warroad, Minn.) would also score in the second for a 7-1 lead.
With the game all but decided in the third, each team would score a goal in the final stanza for the 8-2 final.
Romfo finished with a goal and four assists in the day, joining
Fox Dodds as the Golden Eagles with five points on the weekend, as Dodds did it yesterday.
Fox Dodds added two more goals and three points, while
Dylan Neubauer (Sr., D, Grand Forks, N.D.) added a season high three assists for three points.
Adam Goody (Jr., G, Airdrie, Alberta) finished with 13 saves on 15 shots.
Minnesota Crookston is 4-0 for the second straight season and will head to Brookings, S.D., next weekend for a series with the Jackrabbits of South Dakota State.
