Crookston, Minn. –Head Softball coach
Ashton Sangster and the University of Minnesota Crookston announced the hiring of Jacob Jeffries as Assistant Softball Coach on Thursday afternoon.
Sangster heads into her first season at the helm of the Golden Eagles after spending the previous three years as the top assistant for the Golden Eagles.
Jeffries has a wealth of experience at collegiate softball's peak. Jeffries spent his last two seasons as the top assistant at Bowling Green State. Under his guidance at BGSU, Jeffries helped eight student-athletes named to the Academic All-MAC team in 2023.
Prior to his time at Bowling Green State, the Florida native spent his time at Maryville University in Town and Country, Mo., where he was a volunteer assistant for a year with the Saints.
Jeffries was also at Jacksonville University as a volunteer assistant, where he helped lead the Dolphins to their best defense in almost five years.
He graduated from the University of North Florida, where he served as the student manager of the Ospreys for three seasons, helping in all aspects of leading the softball program.
Sangster is excited about what Jeffries can bring to the table as her top assistant.
"I couldn't be more excited to welcome Jacob to the Golden Eagle softball family. Jacob brings an immense understanding of mental preparation and offensive strategy," mentioned Sangster.
"His incredible work ethic, passion and connections will help bring the softball program to new heights. Our program is very blessed to have him as part of the staff."
The Golden Eagles return a number of quality contributors in 2025, including All-Conference performer
Whitnee Curry. The Golden Eagles finished 14-39 in 2024.
