CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston jumping seat team had a great showing at their final home meets at the Charles H. Casey Equine Arena. The Golden Eagles ended the season as Regional Champions, as they were the high-point team in the region for the 2023-24 season. In addition, Gabriella Siefkes (Sr., Aberdeen, S.D.) will compete in the Cacchione Cup at Zones, while Juliana Gullo (So., Itasca, Ill.) ended the season as the High Point Rider for the region.
The Golden Eagles also captured Reserve High Point Team accolades in Saturday's show, while Siefkes was the High Point Rider Saturday.
Saturday, Minnesota Crookston picked up first-place finishes from Siefkes (Open Fences), Alexandra Wentland (Open Flat), Jane Droll (Novice Flat), and Samantha Halliday (Pre-Novice Flat). Siefkes took second in Open Flat, as did Jada Schimke in Limit Flat, and Zoe Waldron in Novice Flat. The Golden Eagles picked up third-place finishes from Gullo (Open Fences), Alex Pfaffenbach (Open Flat), Sophie Gustafson (Novice Flat), and Alexis Heaton (Intro Flat).
The Golden Eagles also had Schimke take fourth in Limit Flat, and Christina Fielder in Novice Flat, while Gullo took fifth in Open Flat, and Delainey Lancaster in Novice Flat.
Minnesota Crookston had seven riders qualify for the Regional Championships Sunday, and the Golden Eagle didn't disappoint as they put up one of their best performances in school history at the Regional Championships. Minnesota Crookston sends six individual riders to Zones. Siefkes had great rides to take first in Open Flat, and Open Fences. Gullo placed second in Open Fences. Wentland had first-place finishes in both Intermediate Fences and Intermediate Flat. Schimke took first in Limit Flat, while Fiedler placed first in Intro Flat.
In addition, Kristen Borchert competed at Regionals, taking third in Limit Fences, and fourth in Limit Flat.
The Golden Eagles honored their Seniors Lancaster, Siefkes, and Pfaffenbach for everything they have meant to the program.
