Golden Eagle Tennis Soars to 3-0 on Season with 6-1 Victory over Concordia College

Crookston, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston tennis defeated Concordia College, 6-1, on Sunday morning to sweep the weekend and move to 3-0.
 
The Golden Eagles are 3-0 for the first time in program history and will open up NSIC play next weekend at home.
 
The morning would start with three outstanding doubles matches. The duo of Madeleine Schneider (Sr., Gartringen, Germany) and Blaike Zander (Jr., Bismarck, N.D.) would get the Golden Eagles the first win in doubles with a 6-3 win. Kavya Singh (Jr., Agra, India) and Nadia Cases Mundet (Fr., Barcelona, Spain) would clinch the point for the maroon and gold with a 6-3 win. Ariadna Solis Guals (Fr., Santpedor, Spain) and Daniela de Lucas Rivera (Fr., Madrid, Spain) would fall in doubles for the first time this season, 7-5.
 
With the point clinched, the Golden Eagles would need three more single wins for the 3-0 start on the year.
 
Schneider would breeze through her singles match with a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Raquel Egge of the Cobbers. The number two singles would also go the way of the home team, as de Lucas Rivera would win her match in straight sets (6-2, 6-1). Cases Mundet would win her match in number five singles, clinching the win for the Golden Eagles. The Golden Eagles would win two more singles matches, as Zander and Kaydance Hinn (Jr., Coon Rapids, Minn.) would each control their opponent. Hinn's match was a wild one, going the distance, with the last set being 13-11 in favor of Hinn.
 
What's Next
Believe it or not, it's senior weekend for the Golden Eagles next weekend, as well as the start of conference play. The Golden Eagles will welcome in St. Cloud State on Friday and Minnesota Duluth on Saturday, closing out the home portion of their schedule. First serve with the Huskies is set for 5 P.M.
