Crookston, Minn. – Minnesota Crookston hockey was looking to be thankful for a win over North Dakota State on Saturday afternoon inside the Crookston Sports Center.

Minnesota Crookston was indeed thankful for the third period, as they would score three goals in the third, giving them a 5-2 win and their third straight win.

The Golden Eagles earn their 10th win of the season and improve to 10-3 on the year.

The first period would start out well for the Golden Eagles. Mason Romfo (Fr., F, Langdon, N.D.) would get the scoring started with his team leading 16th goal of the season. Anthony Foster (So., F, Warroad, Minn.) would pick up the lone assist on the goal, his team-high 14th of the year.

10 minutes later, the Bison would strike back with a Ryan Scheff goal.

Just 42 seconds following the Scheff goal, Tristan Morneault (R-Sr., F, Dieppe, New Brunswick) would strike for his first goal of the season, giving the maroon and gold a 2-1 lead heading into the first intermission.

The Golden Eagles outshot the Bison 20-3 in the first frame.

The second period would be much tighter and would see just one goal, that coming off the stick of Isaac Schmidt of the Bison, making it 2-2, following 40 minutes.

Seven minutes into the third period, the Golden Eagles would break the deadlock, as Logan Syrup (Sr., F, Grafton, N.D.) would cash in right on the doorstep, giving the Golden Eagles a 3-2 lead. Fox Dodds (R-Jr., F, Watford City, N.D.) and Mitchell Coleman (Sr., F, Hatton, N.D.) would team up on the assist.

Just two minutes later, Syrup would score his second of the night, as Dodds and Aiden McPhee (So., D, Brea, Calif.) would assist.

With just a minute and a half left in the game, Romfo would pot his second of the night with the empty netter and short-handed goal, giving the Golden Eagles the 5-2 win.

Romfo led the Golden Eagles with a pair of goals and an assist and also added a whopping 11 shots in the game. Dodds and Syrup each added a pair of points, while a number of Golden Eagles added one point.

Minnesota Crookston outshot the Bison, 51-16.

Wyatt Olsonowsi (Jr., G, Hallock, Minn.) wasn't very busy in goal, but he made some timely saves, stopping 14 of the 16 shots for the Bison on the night.
