CROOKSTON, Minn. - The University of Minnesota Crookston western equestrian hosted a pair of IHSA meets Saturday, October 19 and Sunday, October 20 at the Charles H. Casey Equine Arena in Crookston, Minn. The Golden Eagles were Reserve High Point Team Sunday. Brooke Hoven earned High Point Rider accolades for the Golden Eagles Sunday. She also qualified for IHSA Regionals in Level II Ranch Riding.
Saturday, Minnesota Crookston was led by first-place finishes from Samantha Lyons in Open Reining, Hailey Hanson in Open Horsemanship, Kassidy Kalka in Level II Horsemanship, and Olivia Monger in Rookie A Horsemanship.
Emma Mutnansky took second place in Open Horsemanship. Siara Mosby (Level I Horsemanship) and Hailey Schlotfeldt (Rookie A Horsemanship) also had second-place finishes.
Kalka (Level II Ranch Riding), Hoven (Level II Horsemanship), and Bethanie Gravelle (Level II Horsemanship) took third in their disciplines. Madison Wojcek (Open Reining and Open Horsemanship), Eleanor Pettitt (Level II Horsemanship), and Jenna Seibert (Rookie B Horsemanship) took fourth Saturday.
Hoven, Kianna Dolezal, and Alexis Heaton added fifth-place finishes in Saturday's show.
Sunday, the Golden Eagles looked to Hoven, who took first-place ribbons in Level II Ranch Riding, and Level II Horsemanship. Mutnansky also had a first-place finish in Open Horsemanship.
Pettitt, Dolezal, and Heaton took second in their respective disciplines. Wojcek had a pair of third-place finishes in Open Reining and Open Horsemanship. Gravelle and Eliza Freund also took third Sunday.
Hanson, Kalka, and Amelia Lewis placed fourth. Hanson, Mosby, and Schlotfeldt also added fifth-place finishes Sunday, while Monger took sixth in Rookie A Horsemanship.
The Golden Eagles will compete in NCEA meets in Brookings, S.D., against UC-Davis and South Dakota State University November 1 and 2. Their next IHSA meet is at North Dakota State University November 15.
